Our Deep Roots

The co-owner of Firever Pines, Ben Snyder began farming Christmas trees at the age of 10 on his grandfather’s Christmas tree farm (Haring Tree Farms) in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania. His grandfather has been growing Christmas trees since 1979. Ben was heavily involved with his grandfather’s business learning the craft over the past 20 years managing the primary location and tending to the trees throughout the season. In 2004, Ben started a small farm of his own in Pennsylvania on his parent’s land where he still has trees growing.

The Snyder’s purchased a 10 acre farm in Caroline County, Virginia in 2017. Each year since then they have planted tree seedlings at their Virginia farm and Pennsylvania farm. Their store front was established in the summer of 2019 and is open every holiday season.

Ben & Angel Snyder currently reside in Richmond, Virginia. Ben moved to Richmond after completing college at Virginia Tech. He currently works at a stream & wetland mitigation company in Richmond where he works as a stream & wetland designer. Angel moved to Richmond after graduating from Radford University. She works in Richmond where she is a financial assistant. Ben and Angel share a passion for the outdoors and their dog and three cats. When they’re not spending their time on the tree farm they are traveling, gardening, renovating their home or just hanging out by the James River.

Long before families deck their halls, Virginia Christmas tree farmers work year-round trimming, mowing and scouting for pests to grow beautiful trees. From traditional white pines to popular Leyland cypress varieties, growers in Amelia, Caroline and Cumberland counties are ready to help families create holiday memories while supporting each other through the Virginia Christmas Tree Growers Association.
